Christy Sports is excited to announce the grand opening of their extensively remodeled store which has taken 7 months and redefines the ski and snowboard shopping experience in Boulder. “We want to invite the community to come and see our new flagship store, because with over 16,000 square feet of retail space split between 2 levels, this store is truly something that you have to see to believe,” stated Dan Fox, Director of Front Range Operations for Christy Sports.
The remodel doubled the square footage of the store, allowing for the expansion of every department and increasing the selection of quality ski and snowboard products. The bottom floor features the snowboard and clothing departments, while the upstairs houses the ski, rental and repair departments. The additional space also provided room for a Spyder Concept area which showcases an array of innovative Spyder apparel. “When we started this project, we definitely wanted to make the coolest ski and snowboard shop in Boulder, but more importantly; we wanted to provide the community with the selection of products they desire. I am happy to say that we met those goals,” said Dennis Meeker, Boulder store manager.
After taking over from Chivers Sports in 1993, Christy Sports continues to uphold the long standing tradition of operating a family owned ski and snowboard shop out of the same location. Having been home to a local ski shop since 1975, the Christy Sports location at 2000 30th Street in Boulder was in need of an update, and this renovation truly brings the building to the forefront of snow sports retail. “It was important for us to use a local architecture firm and general contractor to deliver a shopping experience that is unrivaled in this community. We were also able to implement community input into our contemporary design by expanding the rental and repair departments while maintaining an open and spacious retail area,” said Hugh O’Winter, Project Manager for Christy Sports.
Throughout the month of November, the Christy Sports in Boulder will be offering special discounts in each department, ensuring that customers receive incredible deals on an unprecedented selection of quality ski and snowboard gear. Additionally, Christy Sports has partnered with the Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross in order to aid in the recovery of the Boulder and surrounding communities. Throughout November, the Boulder Christy Sports will be collecting donations and contributing a portion of all sales to the Colorado Flood Relief fund. “After 20 years of business in Boulder, we are truly part of the community and it is our pleasure to step up and help in the recovery process,” stated Boulder resident and CEO of Christy Sports, Patrick O’Winter.
