LAKEWOOD, stomach Colo. – December 26, 2013 –Christy Sports, today, announces that it replaced the Lone Star Sports ski and snowboard space in Breckenridge, Colorado.
After 37 years of providing the Breckenridge community with quality ski and snowboard rentals and repairs, the Abernathy’s are closing their heritage ski shop location. Christy Sports, another family owned company with over 50 years of experience in the specialty ski and snowboard business will now operate out of that space. Greg Abernathy opened Lone Star Sports in 1976 and quickly earned a reputation for excellence in customer service. Now, after such a long and celebrated history within the Breckenridge community, Greg and Kim Abernathy are ready to pass the torch. “We feel privileged to have served the community for so long, but now it is time to take the steps towards retirement,” remarked Greg Abernathy, founder of Lone Star Sports. “However, I am happy that Christy Sports, a local ski shop will run out of our old space.”
Christy Sports is constantly striving to provide unparalleled service for both locals and visitors, and this location allows them another opportunity to serve ski and snowboard enthusiasts in Breckenridge. “We are excited about adding this legacy location because the Abernathy’s have done such a great job throughout the years. The shop already has a fantastic reputation which makes the transition so smooth, and the entire Lone Star staff will now join Christy Sports, providing a seamless transition for the customer,” said Brian Sullivan, the Christy Sports Director of Operations for Summit County.
Lone Star has become a fixture within the ski and snowboard community in Breckenridge, and Christy Sports will continue that legacy well into the future.
