Christy Sports Will Open a New Long-Term Event Location

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – April, 13. Christy Sports, today, announces a new long term home for its seasonal sale events.

The new Christy Sports Event Center at 8601 W. Cross Drive in Littleton provides 34,000 square feet of space, making it ideal for the large Powder Daze and Patio Furniture Clearance Sale Events that mark the start of each respective season. “These event sales, they have a life of their own and do a year’s worth of business in a very short amount of time,” said Dan Fox, Vice President of Operations. “We’ve been doing this for seven or eight years and looking for a long-term home for the last four.” Traditionally, Christy Sports has been forced to move their sale events from year to year, and even seasonally due to a lack of retail real estate inventory. Now however, customers will be able to return to the same location for both the Powder Daze and Patio Furniture Sale events.

The new retail space near Southwest Plaza will provide customers with a single location for both signature events as well as an expansive showroom which will continue to offer a large selection of products at the conclusion of each of the two pre-season sales. With such a large retail footprint, customers will be able to take advantage of an unmatched selection of products without sacrificing the high quality of customer service that Christy Sports is known for. The new location will also feature a year-round patio furniture design center for special orders and online casino’s commercial sales in addition to the ski and snowboard retail, repair, and rental services offered during the winter.

The new location is currently open and hosting Christy Sports’ 4th annual Patio Furniture Sale Event, but will close at the conclusion of the sale in order to remodel the space. All renovations are expected to be completed before the Powder Daze sale kicks off in August.

Due to the size and location of the new event center, two nearby Christy Sports stores will close when their leases run out. “If you think about it, we’ve kind of got two stores merging into one,” Fox said. The new location is right across from the smaller 8,000 square foot Christ Sports in Chanson Plaza, and only a few miles from Christy Sports in the Orchard Hills Shopping Center. The Orchard Hills location will close at the end of April, 2015, and the Chanson Plaza Location will close by the end of April 2016. After the closure of the Chanson Plaza location, the new event center will be open year round as a traditional Christy Sports store and then switch over twice a year to accommodate the early season sale events.
