LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Dec. 7, 2009 – A common complaint among skiers, is that their ski boots often hurt their feet, ankles and calves. To provide their customers with increased comfort and improved performance, Christy Sports (www.christysports.com) has teamed up with Dynamic Foot Positioning (DFP) (www.dfpsole.com) to offer customized boot fitting options.
Christy Sports” expert boot fitters begin the process of customizing a ski boot by first, conducting an interview with the customer to assess their skill level, needs and the nuances of their feet, ankles and lower legs. Based on that assessment, the appropriate boot shell will then be recommended.
The first step in customizing the boot is to analyze the initial fit and then heat mold a custom insole. Christy Sports has found that custom insoles dramatically improve the performance of ski boots for every level of skier. Should the Christy Sports customer desire a full custom boot, the next step would be to remove the manufacturer”s liner from the boot and replace it with a heat molded custom liner from a DFP. The liner is molded around the customer”s lower legs and feet. At this point, all contact points within the boot are fully customized to the customer”s individual feet. This artesian approached is designed to meet specific needs of the skier and ensure every boot is customized for the individual, not for the masses.
After the custom liners and foot beds have been made, the customer will try everything on and will complete a Tekscan Analysis, which includes standing on a computer pad that graphically shows pressure points on the feet. If adjustments need to be made, the boot fitter will continue to make modifications until the Tekscan shows all pressure points have been removed.
